RFA SIR BEDIVERE Landing Ship Logistics L3004 Sir Bedivere is the Sheppey Units
affiliated ship since The County Class Destroyer HMS Kent became the cadet
training ship in Portsmouth Harbour before being finally sold to Chile. Cadets
from TS Kent have been fortunate to sail with the ship on at least two
deployments including a visit to Rotterdam in Holland. Although Sheppey is now no longer
affiliated to HMS Kent the continuing name of TS Kent ensures that we keep a
keen interest in the new type 23 Frigate of the same name during her
deployments

HMS KENT The name "Kent" has been in
almost continuous service to the Royal Navy, with ships of the name being laid
down during the 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, spanning the changes from
wooden ships to armoured cruisers, to the modern day Type 23 Frigate. The Latest HMS Kent is the twelfth ship to
bear the name and the Royal Navy's fourteenth type 23 Frigate built by BA
Systems at Scotstoun on the Clyde and launched by HRH Princess Alexandra of
Kent. She was accepted into service on the 9th February 2000 and HMS Kent was
the first ship to join the Royal Navy in the 21st Century.
